About US

The Goal of Montana Political is to provide a place for discussion and speculation on Montana Politics. Too often the focus in Montana is on the high-level political races, and justifiably so. But Governor, US Senator, and US House are not the only political offices that deserve discussion. There are other statewide offices that often serve as stepping stones for higher office, as well as the Public Service Commission, and especially the State Legislature.

It is my hope that by discussing all offices, better, more informed candidates will be recruited to run for office. 

There will be posts about national offices and politics, and periodically there will be some policy discussion. 

The goal is not to be overly partisan, but in analyzing and discussing certain races there is sure to be a partisan focus. For example, there will not be much discussion about the potential for a Democrat to win a rural, eastern Montana, solid Republican legislative district. Likewise, little time will be spent discussing Republican's chances of flipping a deep blue seat in urban Missoula. Circumstances may change the calculation, such as a well-known candidate raising a lot of money and running an energetic campaign, but if that does not happen there is no sense wasting time discussing an 80-20 district.
